ABOUT UNIVERSITY
University
Ukhta State Technical University is a representative of oil and gas Universities in Russia. It is the largest technical University in the European North of the Russian Federation. The University was founded on the basis of the Ukhta Industrial Institute (the Institute was founded in 1967). By this time, more than 25000 engineers and economists had graduated in oil, geology, building, and timber industry majors.
After the successful attestation on April 14, 1999, the Institute was granted a status of a State Technical University. The University has close ties with all gas and oil producing enterprises of the Republic of Komi and also with mining, timber, and building industries of Russia. The main benefit of such collaborations is a well-qualified specialist training.
Campus
Campus consists of USTU buildings, Classrooms and Laboratories, Production-and-Training Center, Training Ground, Business Incubator, Museum, Dormitories, Medical Service, Dining Facilities, Recreational center “Krokhal”, Sports Complex “Burevestnik”, Library, Swimming Pool, Public Transport.
City
Most of the large towns of Russia amazes tourists with its beauty and attractions. No exception is the city, located in the Republic of Komi, Ukhta. It was founded not so long ago, but already well developed.It forms an urban district "Ukhta".The second by population city in the Komi Republic. It is close to the Republican center of Syktyvkar. The distance between the two cities is just over 300 kilometers.
Ukhta was founded in 1929. Since the settlement grew rapidly, and in 1943 he received the city status. Of particular interest is the fact that it is the first city in Russia, which started oil production. The city can also boast of its history, wonderful nature and cultural monuments.
