University
Kazan University is one of the oldest universities in Russia.
The unique culture of the University has shaped the development of Kazan and the Volga region. The University's new federal status obtained in 2010 poses new interesting challenges and calls for new approaches in the rapidly changing world.
Today Kazan Federal University is a dynamic modern University actively participating in local and international cooperation, networking with academia and industry, boosting the region's human resources development as well as top-level research and innovation in different areas. 17 Centers of excellence and 80 world-class research and teaching laboratories have been established in recent years.
Campus
Every student at Kazan University is a member of an institute. Your institute will be your home for much of your time at Kazan, providing accommodation, meals, a library and IT support. As a post-graduate student, you will receive close individual support from an expert in your field - your faculty or department will assign you a personal supervisor whose role is to guide your program of study or research.
City
Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The city is located on the left Bank of the Volga river in the confluence of the Volga river in the river Kazanka. Kazan is one of the largest educational, cultural, and economic centers of the country. The city is also a major river port.
The population of Kazan is one million two hundred thousand people. The city was founded by the Volga Bulgars. Kazan has a thousand-year history. From the thirteenth to the fourteenth century, Kazan was part of the Golden Horde. In one thousand five hundred fifty-second year the city was taken by the Russians led by Ivan the Terrible, and now is part of the Russian state.
