ABOUT UNIVERSITY
University
NArFU is pleased to offer international students a wide range of educational programs, including 183 undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degree programs in natural and applied sciences (petroleum engineering, construction, biotechnology, power engineering), IT, economics, management, social sciences and humanities, etc.
Mission of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov consists in creating innovative scientific and human resources for the purposes of intellectual exploration of the Russian North and Arctic.
NArFU’s strategic tasks are closely linked with implementation of the national geopolitical interests in the Arctic. Russia lacks experts and technologies for the development of its Arctic area, its continental shelf and infrastructure. The University creates conditions necessary to support the industrial projects being launched in the polar region with personnel and technologies. Apart from skill development, it offers education in social and humanitarian field of studies.
Campus
University residence halls consist of 13 buildings. Each dormitory provides rest room and laundry. Some of them have a gym. All dormitories are located in close proximity to public transport, shopping centers and NARFU campuses. Volunteer center, students’ teams headquarters, creative leisure center, political debate club are just a few of the unions for students’ self-expression.
From dancing, singing, playing music to staging performances and dabbling in science, there will be something for everyone’s liking.
City
Arkhangelsk Region is located in northern European Russiaon the shore of the White Sea. The territory of Arkhangelsk region is bigger than France and six times the size of Bulgaria. It includes the Arctic archipelagos of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya.
The city of Arkhangelsk was founded in 1584. It has a population of about 330 thousand people and is the administrative center of the region. It is a historic seaport city which has interesting activities to offer and places to visit. It lies on both banks of the Northern Dvina River near its exit into the White Sea. The city stretches for about 40 km (25 miles).
There are a number of Russian Orthodox monasteries, including the World Heritage Site of the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea. Arkhangelsk Region is also the motherland of the great Russian scientist M.V. Lomonosov, who made an invaluable contribution to the world’s science and art. Arkhangelsk region is the largest centre of Russia`s pulp and paper industry. Other major industries are ship-building, including atomic submarines, fishery.

Terms of Admission:
Completed secondary education and sufficient qualifications (with a certifying document if applicable) for the applicant to enter university in his/her home country. Students should have TOEFL or IELTS certificate or pass it in the University.
Entrance Examination:
All applicants must pass an entrance examination prior to admission. The examination consists of three parts: Russian language test and tests in two basic subjects relevant to the academic field chosen.
